Indian army while continuing their act of state terrorism martyred three Kashmiri freedom fighters in an ongoing gunfight with Indian occupied forces in the Turkwangam area of South Kashmir's Shopian district on Tuesday morning.
Official sources told reporters that three rebels were killed in the operation. However, he said, the identity of the slain rebels was yet to be ascertained.
A senior Police officer told reporters that bodies are yet to be retrieved from the encounter site.
Pertinently 17 freedom fighters including three rebels of today's encounter have been martyred this month in the Shopian district so far.
Earlier, according to the reports, a joint team of Police, Army's 44RR, and CRPF launched a cordon-and-search-operation in Turkwangam.
As the joint team approached the suspected spot, the hiding freedom fighters fired upon them. The firing was retaliated by the joint team, triggering off an encounter.
It is pertinent to mention that 26 Kashmiri freedom fighters have been martyred in the month of June so far in Kashmir valley.
Meanwhile, internet facilities have been suspended in the shopian district.
