Five freedom fighters have been martyred in a gunfight that broke between freedom fighters and the Indian Occupational forces in Sugoo Hendhama village of south Kashmir’s Shopian district on Wednesday.
A defense official told news reporters that five freedom fighters have been killed an exchange of fire while is operation is on in the area.
Earlier an official said that a joint team of Police, army’s 44 RR, and CRPF launched a cordon and search operation on specific information about the presence of militants in the area.
He said that as the joint team of forces approached towards the suspected spot, the hiding rebels fired upon them which was retaliated triggering an encounter.

The identification of slain youth was not known immediately.
It is pertinent to mention that 9 freedom fighters including top rebel commanders were martyred in two separate encounters at Reban and Pinjura Villages of the Shopian district on June 7 and 8 were buried at an undisclosed location by Indian authorities violation all fundamental and religious rights.
Meanwhile, internet facilities have been suspended in the Shopian district.
