Riyaz Naikoo Martyred by Indian Occupational Forces

Indian occupational forces martyred top rebel commander in Kashmir, Internet suspended, curfew imposed.  The encounter broke out between militants and security forces in the Beighpora area of Pulwama district, a police spokesman said.

“Police last night launched an operation on a specific input at Beighpora. Senior officers are monitoring it since last night,” he said.

The spokesman said a contact has been established with the rebels and a “top rebel commander” is trapped.

The search operation was launched in Beighpora last night with the security forces also moving earth digging machines into the village. The security forces dug all entry and exit points leading to the village. 

As they zeroed in on a particular house, they said, the rebels opened fire which was retaliated, triggering off an encounter. 

The local rebel commander Riyaz Naikoo and his associate Adil were killed in a gunfight with a joint team of police, army, and CRPF at the Beighpora area in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district, officials said on Wednesday.

Inspector-General of Police Kashmir Vijay Kumar (IPS) confirmed to news reporters the killing of Naikoo and his associate in the gunfight. He said that the operation is over without any collateral damage. Naikoo, a resident of Pulwama, was a school teacher before joining militant ranks. he was detained under PSA in 2010 when Indian security forces martyred 112 boys during protests, after his release, he joined rebel ranks and rose through to become topmost commander of the valley of Kashmir. 

The youth clashed with Indian security forces near gunfire site and in retaliation security forces fired live bullets and pellets on protesters in which 20 protesters were injured which were later shifted to a nearby hospital.

The senior police official told reporters that the body of slain rebels will not be given to their respective families as they fear the law and order problem. 

Three residential houses were also completely destroyed in two operations. Authorities have suspended mobile Internet and voice call facilities across the Kashmir Valley and imposed strict curfew in most major towns of the valley to ensure that no ugly fallout of Naikoo’s death affects the law and order.
